Activities

the MOST WANTED activities this year are:

Gliding x 12 votes
Zorbing x 8 votes
Windsurfing x 6 votes
Other x 5 votes (Karting, Kayaks, Ice skating, High Ropes)
So we are going to try to deliver that for you. The committee will help, and the leaders will help them.

Autumn term is nearly upon us, and it is time to sort out the calendar for the year ahead and plan what we really want to do.

The calendar you can see on this site currently has a whole range of options on it, and many things that we could or should do, but it won’t become a final plan until the Unit agrees it – after all: it is YOUR Unit and you can organise yourselves.

So, what we need, right at the start of the term, are some quick decisions on what we want to do, when and where. Some things cannot be fitted in, and some things are for a few people rather than everyone to do together.

So, read the lists of things on the calendar and comment or email as soon as possible, so we can narrow down the options and start booking transport, kit and leaders to make it happen for the Unit.

Thanks!

The calendar is as below, currently. Which means we have to get our skates on to organise those away events in the first few weeks right now.

The Movie highlights of summer camp.

Sadly we were unable to take video while:

  1. hurtling downhill on mountain bikes in the pouring rain
  2. cantering across Exmoor on bouncy ponies
  3. kayaking on the sea in choppy waves
  4. crawling through pitch black tunnels

However, we did get some nice movies of the minibus, dinner, the camp site, climbing and the beach.

We hope you like it.

You’d Be Surprised At The Ambitions of our Young People

This was a completely Non-Scientific Survey of the Unit Members who were present this week at our normal evening. We provided sheets with one or two paragraphs describing each of the following national Explorer level events and asked people to put their names against ones they might be interested in. Winter Camp 2009

Winter Camp 2009

We must be fools, camping in freezing conditions (-5C) and on boggy, cold Gilwell clay. We probably do it for the laughs, but there were moments (like when we realised that we had the wrong gas – butane – and it was frozen in the cylinders) that we may have [read on...]

District Mini-Camp 2008

We enjoyed a mini-break with other Bedfordshire Units at Milton Bryan. It was frosty, but the fires kept us all warm, eh, Princess? Thanks again to Brocks, Barton and Harlington Explorers!
