2011 July Summer Camp – BACK TO BASICS

Sunday 24th July to Saturday 30th July

“BACK TO BASICS”*

in order to get our basic camping and scouting skills up to standard before Gold DoE attempts, Barcelona and more, we are going to have a back to basics camp at Milton Bryan.

Back to basics scouting skills:

* Lightweight camping
* Fire making
* Cooking (on wood fires and small stoves)
* Survival skills (shelter, food, water collection, wild foods,
getting help)
* Knots, ropes, pioneering, pits, and camp construction
* Hammocks and bivouacs
* Advanced Camp Cuisine
* Offsite hikes
* Climbing walls
* Canoes
* Mountain bikes
* Rafting
* lots of small games, campfires, and generally being proper Scouts

This will also make summer camp very cheap – about £90 or less
We will also offer a “book in advance day rate at about £15 a day” for those who only want to come for one day or so
